17 weeks pregnant

Bub is now 13 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs approximately 140 grams. Her skeleton is mostly rubbery cartilage, which will harden later. A protective substance called myelin slowly begins to wrap around the spinal cord.

With the help of a special stethoscope, you can now hear your baby's heartbeat. There's almost nothing more comforting or exciting than hearing your baby's heartbeat galloping along. On days when you're worried about how your pregnancy is progressing, hearing the heartbeat lets you know that your baby's developing and growing. For times when boredom strikes and you feel as if you'll be pregnant forever, it can be a pleasant reminder of what will come at the end of 40 weeks of waiting.

I completed 17 weeks today. I am having my morphological scan in 2 weeks of time. Feel excited that I will be seeing my bub again soon. I call my bub Enyo ( if it's a boy) and at times ponyo ( if it's a gal).I love the way, Aarav ( my first son) comes and kisses on my tummy and talks to Enyo. Last night  he came and put his ears on my tummy and said mummi Enyo making noises in the tummy in water. I was so amused how the little brain is observing things. Then he looked at my belly button and asked me what's this. I told him that Enyo eats his food via this, to my surprise he pretended that he is feeding food to my belly button so that Enyo can eat. Waiting for the day when he will hold Enyo/Ponyo and will talk to him/her. I am sure he is going to be a very caring brother.

Yesterday, I was so energetic but today I just feel the opposite. This long weekend we are planning of going to Bateman's bay for a break. Looking forward to it.

16 weeks pregnant

Bub is now about the size of an avocado (11.6 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighing 100 grams). In the next three weeks he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling his weight and adding centimetres to his length.

In or out of the womb, babies are playful creatures. Yours may already have discovered his first toy -- the umbilical cord -- which he'll enjoy pulling and grabbing. Sometimes he may even clutch it so tight that less oxygen gets through, but don't worry -- he doesn't hold onto it long enough to harm himself. The circulatory system and urinary tract are in full working order, and he's inhaling and exhaling
amniotic fluid through his lungs.

Sometimes, when you move suddenly, you may a feel a slight pain in your sides. Ligaments on each side of your uterus and pelvic walls are stretching as your baby grows. It's normal to feel some pain, but if it continues for a few days or escalates, talk to your midwife.

Some days I feel so energetic and some days I just don't even feel like getting out from the bed. It's gets really difficult at times to stay professional at the same time. I am able to fall asleep at night but because of pressure on bladder I have to get up once or twice during the night and then I stay awake for some time.
I have started craving again. This week I felt like eating Indian Kadhi and my dearest hubby cooked it for me :)

15 weeks pregnant

The fetus weighs in at around only 70 grams. It is 11 centimetres long, crown to rump. Legs are growing longer than the arms now, fingernails are fully formed and all the joints and limbs can move. You may be able to find out the gender of your baby by ultrasound now, since the external genitals may be developed enough that the ultrasound technician can tell you if you're going to have a boy or a girl.

Appetite is still the same, morning sickness has started to disappear now. I am throwing out only once or twice in a day now.

14 weeks pregnant

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

I can feel that uterus has moved up above the pubic  bones. I have started feeling butterfly movements since week 12 but now I feel it atleast once in a day. By end of the day, when I come back from work, I feel so exhausted and can feel the tightening in the lower abdomen. I am seeing my doctor on 14th september for a general checkup and to find out about week12 scan results. Unlike last time, I am not getting lots of craving and my appetitie is still less. Everytime I have to force myself to eat.

13 weeks pregnant

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

I had my week 12 ultrasound on 31st aug 2012. Saw Ponyo/Enyo wiggling her/his hands. The technician had a hard time taking all the pictures as my little bu was very active and wasn't cooperating much. Atlast, she/he took the desired pose and the technician took all the required pictures. After that I went for blood test  and the combined risk resul will come out in a week.

It was such an amazing feeling to see the bub developing inside me. Though it's my second pregnancy but I feel excited just as the first one.  Morning sickness has reduced a lot but now I have started to feel very tired. Appetite hasn't increased yet.

12 Weeks pregnant

Baby's face is beginning to look more human, even though she is only about 5.5cms long from her crown to her rump and weighs 14 grams. The eyes, which started out on the sides of the head, have moved closer together. The ears are almost in their normal position on the side of the head. The liver is making bile and the kidneys are secreting urine in the bladder.

The fetus squirms if the abdomen is prodded, although its too early to  feel movement. Fetal nerve cells have been multiplying rapidly and synapses (neurological connections in your brain) are forming. The fetus has acquired more reflexes: touching the palms makes the fingers close, touching the soles of the feet makes the toes curl down and touching the eyelids makes the eye muscles clench.

I completed week 12 on 28.08.2012. Morning sickness, to my relief, has become much better. Not throwing up every hour now. I could feel that uterus has moved in the lower abdomen. If I stand for too long,  I start to feel breathless. I have booked for Nuclear Translucence test on 31st August. Feel so excited that I will be seeing my bub again.

11 weeks pregnant

Measuring from the crown of his head to his rump, little 4-centimetre fetus has all his parts, from tooth buds to toenails. Bub is busy kicking and stretching; his movements are so fluid they look like water ballet. Fingers and toes have fully separated. Now the fetus's main task during the next six months will be to grow larger and stronger until it can survive on its own outside the womb.

A dark vertical line of pigmentation, called the linea nigra, may appear on the abdomen. Uterus has risen above pelvic bones

I haven't developed linea nigra yet but my abodmen looks very stretched and bloated. Waiting for morning sickness to end.
