20th week

Bub measures about 6.5 inches/ 16.5 centimetres from crown to rump and is steadily gaining weight. A whitish coat of a slick, fatty substance called vernix caseosa begins to cover your baby and protects the skin during its long immersion in amniotic fluid. It also eases delivery. The baby's swallowing more this week, good practice for the digestive system. After your baby takes in amniotic fluid, his body absorbs the water in the liquid and moves the rest into the large bowel.

It's such an amazing feeling that I have reached half way mark. Ponyo's kicking is increasing day by day and I am loving them. Some days I feel too energetic and some days I just feel the opposite.

Feel low

Since yesterday, I don't feel too good. Came to know that my parents won't be coming for my delivery as my mother's health is not so good. I was eagerly waiting for their arrival as it was their first trip. I don't want my mum to fall sick when I can't take care of her. So we told them not to worry about it. My first post pregnancy delivery period didnt go too good. The first 3-4 months were very painful for me as I was getting infection again and again and bleeding wasn't just stopping. I really feel that a mother needs more emotional and physical support after the delivery for the first few months. At that time she wants someone who can love her, take care of her, rather than counts the favors ,she needs someone who could just come and caress her and tell her that it will be alright. I feel lucky in a way that my hubby is very caring in that regard but I know that he is not going to get much time as he has to go to work and look after Aarav as well. I just hope that I recover well and also get my muscles tightened quickly

19th week scan

Finally saw ponyo again. The moment I entered the room, I told the technician that I want to find out the gender. First of all she took all the pictures and then later on showed me bub's stomach, heart, spinal, head etc and she told me that it might be Ponyo as she couldn't see anything between legs. But there is no guarantee. So I still can't shop for pink.Kunal, my hubby, couldn't come for the scan as he got stuck in a meeting. Missed him but will be seeing ponyo again next week when I go for checkup. The good thing about a private doctor is that she does a scan at every checkup.

19 weeks pregnant

The top of your uterus now reaches the belly button and will grow about a centimetre per week. The fetus measures around 15 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs about 240 grams.

She has started to swallow amniotic fluid, and her kidneys continue to make urine. Hair on the scalp is sprouting.

Sensory development reaches its peak this week. The nerve cells serving each of the senses -- taste, smell, hearing, seeing, and touch -- are now developing in their specialised areas of the brain. Nerve cell production slows down as existing nerve cells grow larger and make more complex connections. If you're carrying a baby girl, she already has roughly six million
eggs in her ovaries. By the time she's born, she'll have about one million.

Feels so nice that I am about to reach half way. Enyo's butterfly flutters have increased. Early morning I could feel him all awake and kicking for an hour. Got a very bad stretching pain in lower abdomen since morning, hopefully it will go away in a while. I received Julia Tuplers Perfect pushing along with the splint yesterday. Will start doing my tupler exercises again to prevent more muscle separation. Feel so excited that I will be seeing Enyo/Ponyo again this afternoon during 19 week scan. will try to find out gender if he/she remains cooperative. Feel so good that my hubby and aarav both will be coming for scan. I am waiting to see Aarav's reaction :)

18 weeks pregnant

Bub is approximately 14.2 centimetres long from crown to rump and she weighs about 190 grams. Her chest moves up and down to mimic breathing but she's not taking in air, only amniotic fluid

A mid-pregnancy
ultrasound scan is often done sometime in the second trimester (usually between 18 and 20 weeks) to assess fetal growth and development, screen for certain birth defects and check the placenta and umbilical cord. During this scan, you might see your baby kick, flex, reach, roll, or even suck her thumb.

I am showing up fast. Whoever looks at me, thinks I am in last trimester. It's all because of muscle separation, i think. Last weekend was a long weekend and we went to Bateman's bay for 2 days trip with our friends. It was a relaxing trip and even bub enjoyed. It's really nice to see how Aarav comes and kisses on my tummy and talks to Enyo.

17 weeks pregnant

Bub is now 13 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs approximately 140 grams. Her skeleton is mostly rubbery cartilage, which will harden later. A protective substance called myelin slowly begins to wrap around the spinal cord.

With the help of a special stethoscope, you can now hear your baby's heartbeat. There's almost nothing more comforting or exciting than hearing your baby's heartbeat galloping along. On days when you're worried about how your pregnancy is progressing, hearing the heartbeat lets you know that your baby's developing and growing. For times when boredom strikes and you feel as if you'll be pregnant forever, it can be a pleasant reminder of what will come at the end of 40 weeks of waiting.

I completed 17 weeks today. I am having my morphological scan in 2 weeks of time. Feel excited that I will be seeing my bub again soon. I call my bub Enyo ( if it's a boy) and at times ponyo ( if it's a gal).I love the way, Aarav ( my first son) comes and kisses on my tummy and talks to Enyo. Last night  he came and put his ears on my tummy and said mummi Enyo making noises in the tummy in water. I was so amused how the little brain is observing things. Then he looked at my belly button and asked me what's this. I told him that Enyo eats his food via this, to my surprise he pretended that he is feeding food to my belly button so that Enyo can eat. Waiting for the day when he will hold Enyo/Ponyo and will talk to him/her. I am sure he is going to be a very caring brother.

Yesterday, I was so energetic but today I just feel the opposite. This long weekend we are planning of going to Bateman's bay for a break. Looking forward to it.

16 weeks pregnant

Bub is now about the size of an avocado (11.6 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighing 100 grams). In the next three weeks he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling his weight and adding centimetres to his length.

In or out of the womb, babies are playful creatures. Yours may already have discovered his first toy -- the umbilical cord -- which he'll enjoy pulling and grabbing. Sometimes he may even clutch it so tight that less oxygen gets through, but don't worry -- he doesn't hold onto it long enough to harm himself. The circulatory system and urinary tract are in full working order, and he's inhaling and exhaling
amniotic fluid through his lungs.

Sometimes, when you move suddenly, you may a feel a slight pain in your sides. Ligaments on each side of your uterus and pelvic walls are stretching as your baby grows. It's normal to feel some pain, but if it continues for a few days or escalates, talk to your midwife.

Some days I feel so energetic and some days I just don't even feel like getting out from the bed. It's gets really difficult at times to stay professional at the same time. I am able to fall asleep at night but because of pressure on bladder I have to get up once or twice during the night and then I stay awake for some time.
I have started craving again. This week I felt like eating Indian Kadhi and my dearest hubby cooked it for me :)

15 weeks pregnant

The fetus weighs in at around only 70 grams. It is 11 centimetres long, crown to rump. Legs are growing longer than the arms now, fingernails are fully formed and all the joints and limbs can move. You may be able to find out the gender of your baby by ultrasound now, since the external genitals may be developed enough that the ultrasound technician can tell you if you're going to have a boy or a girl.

Appetite is still the same, morning sickness has started to disappear now. I am throwing out only once or twice in a day now.
