12 Weeks pregnant

Baby's face is beginning to look more human, even though she is only about 5.5cms long from her crown to her rump and weighs 14 grams. The eyes, which started out on the sides of the head, have moved closer together. The ears are almost in their normal position on the side of the head. The liver is making bile and the kidneys are secreting urine in the bladder.

The fetus squirms if the abdomen is prodded, although its too early to  feel movement. Fetal nerve cells have been multiplying rapidly and synapses (neurological connections in your brain) are forming. The fetus has acquired more reflexes: touching the palms makes the fingers close, touching the soles of the feet makes the toes curl down and touching the eyelids makes the eye muscles clench.

I completed week 12 on 28.08.2012. Morning sickness, to my relief, has become much better. Not throwing up every hour now. I could feel that uterus has moved in the lower abdomen. If I stand for too long,  I start to feel breathless. I have booked for Nuclear Translucence test on 31st August. Feel so excited that I will be seeing my bub again.

11 weeks pregnant

Measuring from the crown of his head to his rump, little 4-centimetre fetus has all his parts, from tooth buds to toenails. Bub is busy kicking and stretching; his movements are so fluid they look like water ballet. Fingers and toes have fully separated. Now the fetus's main task during the next six months will be to grow larger and stronger until it can survive on its own outside the womb.

A dark vertical line of pigmentation, called the linea nigra, may appear on the abdomen. Uterus has risen above pelvic bones

I haven't developed linea nigra yet but my abodmen looks very stretched and bloated. Waiting for morning sickness to end.

Week 10

The fetus is only about three centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs less than four grams. Even so, it's busily swallowing and kicking. Each day more minute details start to appear, such as fingernails and peach-fuzzy hair.

The vital organs -- the liver, kidneys, intestines, brain, and
lungs -- are fully formed and functional, while the head is almost half the length of the entire body. The forehead temporarily bulges and sits high on the head, but later will change into a more human-like feature.

With the help of a doppler, a hand-held soundwave stethoscope, you can hear the fetus's rapid heartbeat -- one expectant mother likened it to the sound of tiny horses galloping.

Uterus size-  size of a grapefruit

I still have morning sickness which is worse during evening and night. Whatever I eat, I throw out that.
Feel tired most of the time. I might have lost 1 kg of weight. I have to book for week 12 ultrasound and blood test. Hopefully, 2 more weeks of morning sickness only.

First ultrasound

As my periods have been very confusing, my gynae asked me to undergo dating scan.  On 13th August, I saw my fetus wiggling its cute hands. It's heartbeat was 175.  Only after seeing it, I started to feel that I am actually carrying a tiny life inside me. So far I was thinking that I was 8 weeks pregnant but the technician told me that I will be 10 weeks on 14th august and the due date is 12th march 2013. How exciting, now I have an accurate date. She also showed us the cord. Fetus measures 2.8 cm at this stage.

Week 9

At week's end, the fetus measures approximately 2.3 centimetres long. In both shape and size, it resembles a peapod and weighs less than 2 grams. The eyelids are fused and won't open until week 27. The wrists are more developed, ankles have formed, and the fingers and toes are clearly visible. Arms are growing longer and bend at the elbows. By week's end, the inner workings of the ears are complete. Though you can't yet identify the sex of the fetus by ultrasound, its genitals have begun to form. By now the placenta has developed enough to support most of the critical job of producing hormone

Week 9 had been very stressful for me. As morning sickness started the day we returned to Canberra and Aarav developed a scary blister on his right foot. May be because he was walking bare feet on the beach, he developed some kind of skin irritation. I had to take off from work as the poor boy wasn't able to walk for 2 days. On thursday, 9th August, I went to office and during night I developed severe pelvic pain. The pain was similar to what I had developed in the first labour. On friday morning, I called up my gynae and she asked to undergo urine test. The pain started to radiate in hips and it started to shoot up in the lower abdomen. I got very scared , luckily there was no bleeding and the pain became mild by evening.
I tried to take rest through out the day and used the wheat bag.

Week 8

Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from bub's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. Bub about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though I still can't feel it.

Since my first pregnancy, I have pain during my belly button and few weeks before only doctor told me that I have umbilical hernia which is very minor at this stage. So I am doing core exercise 3 times a day as suggested in Tuppler technique and wearing a splint most of the time. We are still in Fiji and I am trying to walk as much as I can. We are going back on 4th August to Canberra. I have severe deficiency of Vit D so I am basking in sun, enjoying it. Haven't started vomitting yet, but nausea has increased. I am hoping not to get morning sickness in the next few days:)

Week 7

Now about 1.25 centimetres long, the size of a grape, the embryo has distinct, slightly webbed fingers and toes. It's a jumping bean, moving in fits and starts. The liver is churning out large amounts of red blood cells until the bone marrow forms and takes over this rol

Week 7 was same as week 6 for me. Didn't develop any new symptom, may be because I was excited about the relaxing trip to Fiji islands for a week. We left for Fiji on 28th. The flight journey wasn't bad as I was trying to walk when I could and was eating Jelly beans and ginger whenever I felt sick. We reached Fiji at 6:45 pm. Then we did a road journey of 2 hours to reach our destination, Warwick resort.  By the time we reached, it was 11 pm. Though I was tired, still I had the energy to unpack and put things on place.
Next day, we just relaxed at the pool. Aarav was so much excited as he loves swimming.

Week 6

The tiny life is still an embryo at this week and is the size of a bean. Facial features are forming with dark sports where the eyes are, openings where the nostrils will be, and pits to mark the ears. It's hands and feet look like paddles. Heart has divided into the right and left chambers and is beating at about 150 beats a minute.

I finsihed week 6 on 17th July. I haven't started throwing out yet but feel pukish most of the time. Work was very stressful but to my surprise I coped with it well.

Aarav is going to have a sibling

On 6th july, I took a pregnancy test and to my surprise it came positive. It was the same feeling which i had during Aarav''s time. When the second bar appeared, I thought something is wrong with the test. I took 3 more tests after that  and all of them confirmed it. I thought of calling my hubby immediately who had gone to Sydney but then I thought it would be nice to see his reaction when I tell him. The whole day I just waited for him to come so that I can break the news to him. And when I told him, he also couldn't believe it. He was happy just like me. Though we were not trying for a baby at that time but no one can stop the happiness from coming :)

Aarav is 2.5 year old, when his brother/sister will be born, he will be 3 years old. I think thats the perfect gap between them. He is such an adorable boy who brings joy to us each and every day. I am waiting for the day when both of them will play, giggle together.

We both want to have a girl this time, but whoever comes will bring more happiness in the family.
